Newswire to hype 2/6 & 2/7 followed by 2/27-3/1 results followed by articles that either wrap up 2/7 or preview the forementioned 2/27 weekend shows.
If you want to do cards as they're further announced, I suggest following what I do with RBCW and using the first post as the central "upcoming" show and then post the results after they happen. I wouldn't make a thread that you can edit 2 months later because anyone that's trying to follow along down the line will be really confused.
Your point is a valid one.
I was trying to avoid multiple posts about the shows (i.e. one for the lineup and one for results...)
I do like having all of the upcoming stuff listing in the first post of this thread...and then having results for past shows coming AFTER the stretch of newswires...changes to be made forthcoming. |

7th Anniversary Show Main Event Announced
Monday, March 02, 2009
February 24th: ROH officials were contacted earlier this morning by the Pro Wrestling NOAH office to inquire as to the upcoming availability of ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness for a return to Japan. Apparently following his victory over Naomichi Marufuji at “Final Battle 2008”, the arrogant McGuinness went to NOAH representative Ryu Nakata and laid out an open challenge for any member of the NOAH roster to face him for his ROH World Title. Stay tuned to ROHWrestling.com for more on this story as it develops.
That was the story as of last Tuesday as far as Ring of Honor was aware. After further discussion with NOAH officials, Ring of Honor discovered that not only did McGuinness make the challenge to any member of the NOAH roster, but he actually signed an open contract for any opponents on any date.
According to NOAH officials, they became frustrated after voluntarily offering McGuinness several dates to return to Japan and defend the title but he declined referencing a "hectic schedule" and "other international commitments". After several conversations late last week, ROH President Cary Silkin made it perfectly clear to a NOAH representative. "Pick an opponent, and a date, and McGuinness will be there to defend the title".
Ring of Honor officials were surprised when they checked the fax machine earlier this morning and it contained the previously signed contract for an ROH World Title Match with the challenger listed as KENTA. Instead of the location being listed as Budokan Hall or Differ Ariake, the date and location was stated as the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Saturday, March 21st.
Now it has been made official: Nigel McGuinness will defend his ROH World Title against KENTA on March 21st in New York City at the “7th Anniversary Show”. KENTA returns to Ring of Honor at the top of his game. He defeated Katsuhiko Nakajima to regain the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title on Sunday in Tokyo, Japan. There’s no more ducking and dodging for the World Champion, he will be forced to fulfill his obligations, and that arrogance may cost him dearly. KENTA nearly became the ROH World Champion back in 2006, and you can be sure there is nothing more he would like than to go back to NOAH with that title around his waist. Tickets for this epic confrontation are now on sale at www.rohwrestling.com. |

Tag Team Main Event For Elizabeth
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
Yesterday ROHWrestling.com announced our main event for the “7th Anniversary Show” in NYC on March 21st with Nigel McGuinness defending his ROH World Title against NOAH superstar KENTA.
Today we are happy to announce that the main event has been signed for our debut in Elizabeth, PA on March 20th at the Court Time Sports Center. Twenty-four hours before they lock horns with the ROH World Title on the line, McGuinness and KENTA will square off in tag team competition in a match that could have huge ramifications for the World Title match in New York City.
ROH officials took a long hard look at the members of the locker room in order to determine who would make the best candidate for KENTA’s partner, and after coming together with NOAH officials, it was decided to give the man who most recently took McGuinness to his limits on Pay-Per-View at “Caged Collision” the opportunity - El Generico. The Mexican-Canadian has challenged Nigel on several occasions for the World Title, and a pinfall over the champ in this contest would give the generic luchador that victory we hasn’t been able to secure in singles competition.
When McGuinness was informed of his opponents, he was quick to state a very specific partner. “Davey Richards,” the champion demanded, “I want that vicious wolf in my corner when I beat the hell out of Generico again. I saw what he did to him in Orlando, physically and mentally, and I want that kind of ruthlessness in my corner when I break KENTA’s jaw and make it so he can’t wrestle in New York City!”
When asked for his thoughts, Richards emailed this: “I will definitely take that offer, son. I’ve taken Generico out in Florida, I’ve gone after Steen, I’ve gone after the Briscoes, and if anybody knows KENTA it’s me. I was his protégé, if you want to call it that, I thought of it as learning everything he had to make my game that much better. When I was done, I left him in the dust! Now I relish the chance to take him out.”
So it’s now official. March 20th, Elizabeth, PA at Court Time Sports Center, KENTA & El Generico vs. Nigel McGuinness & Davey Richards! These unique pairings should create some serious fireworks just one day before ROH’s 7th birthday party! Tickets can be purchased right here at www.rohwrestling.com. |

March 3rd Newswire
March 3rd: Everyone at Ring of Honor wishes to thank each and every fan, crew member, cameraman, wrestler, and friend that made our first two television tapings this past weekend a huge success. Something special took place, and we hope that you all feel the same way. We will tape more episodes of Ring of Honor Wrestling on HDNet on Thursday, April 9th and Friday, April 10th at the Arena in South Philly, and we hope to see you all there once again!
March 3rd: Not to be outdone were the wonderful fans in Danbury, CT last Friday night. They were on hand in full force and everyone at ROH extends a big thank you to them as well. We return to Danbury on Friday, July 17th. Tickets are now on sale at www.rohwrestling.com.
March 3rd: In case you missed it on the main page, a HUGE tag team main event has been signed for March 20th in suburban Pittsburgh! KENTA will team with ½ of the ROH World Tag team Champions, El Generico against ROH World Champion, Nigel McGuinness and the partner he chose, Davey Richards. All four men are involved in huge matches the following night in New York City, so this contest is chock full of bad blood and ramifications. Tickets are on sale now at www.rohwrestling.com. You don’t want to miss this huge encounter!
March 3rd: The main event for the "7th Anniversary Show" at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Saturday, March 21st was announced yesterday. Nigel McGuinness will defend the ROH World Title against the new GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion, KENTA. To read the complete announcement click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2648.
March 3rd: You can now save 20% off all live event ticket purchases at www.rohwrestling.com. For this specific sale you don't need a discount code. Prices have already been reduced on the site. Don't miss out, this sale ends Friday morning.
March 3rd: Bryan Danielson’s challenge to Bison Smith has been answered, and it appears that Dragon is only going to get half of what he wants. ROH officials received word late yesterday that Bison has agreed to face Danielson in St. Louis on March 13th, but rejected the match for March 14th. “I don’t answer to empty challenges,” said the gargantuan Smith. “I only need one match with him to finish the task I was given. There isn’t any need for another.”
March 3rd: Larry Sweeney made a very un-welcome appearance at the ROH offices yesterday, with two signed contracts in hand. “That ungrateful slob Dempsey forgets who I am,” said the super agent. “I still have two contracts that he signed, and I fully intend to make him fulfill those contracts. He may think he’s “freed himself”, but Sweet-N-Sour always has the last laugh – or in this case – TWO last laughs. The first will be on March 21st in New York. Dempsey is a dead man.”
March 3rd: A huge grudge tag team match will take place on March 14th in Indianapolis, as the bad blood from “Caged Collision” still simmers. The American Wolves – Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards, have their sights set on the ROH World Tag Team Titles, but first, they face an old foe. “We saw that the Wolves had an open contract, so Roddy and I signed it,” said Brent Albright. “We thought it would be nice to beat on some old pals in a new town.”
March 3rd: The Buy 3, Get 1 Free Ring of Honor DVD sale is back at www.rohwrestling.com until Friday morning. New ROH DVD releases include "Full Circle" from Manassas, VA from January 16th. This event features Features ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness vs. Tyler Black; Bryan Danielson vs. Jimmy Jacobs; Jerry Lynn vs. Austin Aries; Jay Briscoe & Roderick Strong vs. The American Wolves; Delirious vs. The Necro Butcher; plus more. Also available is "Injustice II" from Edison, NJ on January 17th. This show features the controversial Nigel McGuinness vs. Tyler Black ROH World Title Match; Bryan Danielson vs. Jerry Lynn; Roderick Strong & Erick Stevens vs. The American Wolves in a Lumberjack Strap Match; Austin Aries vs. Jay Briscoe vs. Jimmy Jacobs; plus more. For complete details click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2643.
March 3rd: We’ll be back tomorrow with more matches and news for St. Louis & Indianapolis on March 13th and 14th, as well as more for Pittsburgh on March 20th, and the huge 7th Anniversary Spectacular on March 21st where there are sure to be good times and great memories, New York City. |

March 4th Newswire
March 4th: Jimmy Jacobs has more reason to destroy Tyler Black after falling to him in the first TV main event at the inaugural ROH on HDNet Television Tapings last weekend. After the TV cameras stopped rolling, Brodie Lee and Delirious attacked Black at Jacobs’ behest and left him lying. Now Tyler will go for another measure of revenge in St. Louis as he teams with Jerry Lynn! Black and Lynn earned each other’s respect when they battled to a draw in Detroit, and Jerry’s no stranger to battling with the AOTF as he faced Brodie Lee at the TV tapings. It's Lynn and Black versus the Age of the Fall in St. Louis!
March 4th: “Nature Boy” Ric Flair apparently has words for ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness in the upcoming ROH Videowire. ROH officials received word from Flair’s camp that the legend has his eye on McGuinness after reviewing some recent ROH footage to familiarize himself with the company. We’re led to believe that the “Nature Boy” has been critical of the recent tactics McGuinness has used to secure victory.
March 4th: “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson acted quickly once he learned that Bison Smith was not going to agree to face him on back-to-back nights in St. Louis and Indianapolis. For the card on March 14th in Indianapolis, he requested, and has been added to the match between Claudio Castagnoli and Kenny Omega; making this a 3 Way Dance. Danielson faced and defeated Omega once before as part of a 3 Way Dance in ROH’s last appearance in Toronto, so he’s familiar with Omega’s style, while the history between Dragon and Claudio has been well documented. Claudio has been on a roll as of late; will he defeat two men that have given him problems in the past?
March 4th: Speaking of Bryan Danielson, he has signed to face “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush in singles competition when ROH comes to suburban Pittsburgh on March 20th! A victory over Danielson would go a long way toward building huge momentum for the returning Quackenbush!
March 4th: “Dirty” Ernie Osiris allegedly stole Grizzly Redwood’s red lumberjack hat after dropping a fall to him in Danbury last weekend. Osiris reportedly has been trying to sell the hat on various internet marketplaces. If you have any information that will lead to the recovery of Redwood’s hat, please email rohhelp@aol.com. Thank you.
March 4th: Jimmy Jacobs has requested a meeting with the ROH Booking Committee to discuss the "7th Anniversary Show" on March 21st at the Hammerstein Ballroom in midtown Manhattan. We have it on good authority that he has an idea in mind to send some sort of a message to Tyler Black in the very building where he and Austin Aries did the unthinkable and bloodied Tyler in front of the New York faithful. We’ll have more on this in the next newswire!
March 4th: ROH officials are happy to announce that Alex Koslov from the AAA roster has been added to the jam packed Houston doubleshot on April 3rd and 4th! Koslov has shined in AAA over the past 2 years, and has been part of the “Degeneration Mex” faction with Sean Waltman and former ROH star, Rocky “Azucar” Romero. ROH officials are excited about what Koslov brings to the table and welcome him from south of the border along with impressive lucha freelancers Magno, Incognito, and Blue Demon, Jr.! We’ll have the first of the match announcements for Houston next week, right here in the Newswire!
March 4th: New classes at the ROH Wrestling Academy are starting this week. It's not too late to join. For more information click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/wrestlingschool/

A Lost Soul
Friday, March 06, 2009
There has been many twist and turns in the story of Delirious, Daizee Haze and Jimmy Jacobs, but just as Daizee seems to get closer to saving Delirious, something happens to drive him even further away.
At “Full Circle” in Manassas, VA on January 16, with Jimmy Jacobs out of Delirious’ sight, Daizee Haze attempted to stop Delirious from using the spike on The Necro Butcher, Delirious willingly gave the spike to her. Even though Jimmy has a strong influence over the vulnerable Delirious it seems as though without Jimmy in his ear Delirious is willing to listen to Daizee.
However, since January 31st at “Caged Collision” in Chicago Ridge, IL, Delirious has been more confused then ever before. While Jimmy Jacobs was verbally and physically abusing Delirious for losing a tag match to Jerry Lynn’s cradle piledriver, Daizee ran out to save Delirious. Jimmy pushed her down and in self defense she pulled out the spike that Delirious had willingly given her.
At first Jimmy was startled but shockingly he began to beg Daizee to stab him in the head. Did Jimmy know that Delirious would not allow this to happen? Was Jacobs trusting that his manipulation of the masked man would get Delirious to protect him?
Haze, fed up with the verbal berating of the AOTF leader went to spike Jacobs but the confused Delirious shoved him out of the way and was inadvertently spiked in the head by Daizee.
Ever since this incident Delirious has been even more aggressive and paranoid. It’s was if this stabbing some how enlightened Delirious, as though he had started to see through Jimmy’s lies. Delirious has recently shown signs of rebellion against Jacob’s abuse and has been quick to fire back. But to keep control, Jimmy “turns on” the love and Delirious becomes passive and obedient in response.
Most recently, in Danbury, CT on February 27th, Daizee ran to the ring with the hope of stopping Delirious from beating down The Necro Butcher, at the behest of Jimmy Jacobs of course. The masked man seemed as if he was listening to what she had to say, but surprisingly pushed her down to the mat. Had the spiking Delirious received only served to push him further away from Haze, and closer to Jacobs? Had there been no enlightenment found? Is Delirious only drifting more towards being an unpredictable madman? Who does Delirious trust? Who can he trust? Can Jimmy continue to convince Delirious that Daizee is out to hurt him? Will Daizee give up what seems to be an impossible task or continue to fight for what she believes in? Maybe some answers will be forthcoming in St. Louis and Indianapolis. |

March 6th Newswire
March 6th: It's March Madness time at Ring of Honor and for a limited time we're offering 30% Off Your Next Order placed at ROHWrestling.com. There is a great opportunity to save money off DVD's, official ROH apparel, and tickets for all upcoming live Ring of Honor events. For complete details on the sale, and to get the discount code, click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2338.
March 6th: ROH officials have reviewed the footage from February 6th in Coral Springs, FL, and found that Brent Albright has a legitimate claim to a rematch against Nigel McGuinness. “I had McGuinness right where I wanted him,” said Albright. “He was trapped in the Crowbar about to tap. And sure, he rolled through and had me pinned, but had to cheat to keep me down. He won’t be able to do it again.” The ROH World Championship will be defended just outside of St. Louis in Collinsville on March 13th, and it will be McGuinness facing “Shooter” Brent Albright once again! McGuinness has a lot more to lose in this rematch; can Albright take the next step?
March 6th: Kenny King and Rhett Titus seem to have the world at their feet. After facing the ROH World Tag Team Champions, Steen and Generico, in Indy on March 14th, they’ve already signed to face Erick Stevens and the returning Matt Cross. Now ROH officials have finalized a second tag team match for the boisterous duo; this one to take place on March 21st as part of our Seven Year Anniversary! The “Pretty-Boy Pitbull” and “Addicted to Love” will once more face the powerful Erick Stevens, but this time he’ll be team with Roderick Strong for a match that could have championship ramifications abound should King and Titus win the gold on March 14th!
March 6th: ROH officials are happy to announce that “Spyder” Nate Webb has been added to the March 14th ROH debut in Indianapolis! Webb hasn’t been seen in Ring of Honor for some time, but was a part of the ROH-CZW wars, albeit on the CZW side. That aside, Webb has been a steady fan favorite for some time, and ROH officials are anxious to see Webb in action.
March 6th: Just signed for March 20th in suburban Pittsburgh is a battle between former tag team mainstays - Roderick Strong versus Austin Aries! Strong, fresh off his tour of Pro Wrestling NOAH is looking to take his ROH career to new levels, and by defeating the new-attitude Aries, he looks to do just that. Aries, meanwhile, has shunned seemingly everything that endeared him to the ROH faithful, and shares a personal vendetta against Tyler Black with his sworn enemy, Jimmy Jacobs. Aries has become very volatile as of late, and is completely unpredictable.
March 6th: As seen in the most recent ROH Videowire http://www.rohvideos.com/watch?v=r4qD_gxO2YA, Prince Nana has returned to ROH, becoming licensed to manage the monstrous Bison Smith! Smith has decimated everything in his path since showing up in ROH, including “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. Not much is known about Nana, just that it appears he has returned to his former “status”. Not so long ago, he was being ejected from ROH events and seen undertaking various trivial jobs. All attempts to speak with Nana have gone unanswered, and at this point, all we know is that he is back and leading the charge of Bison. |

March 9th Newswire
March 9th: Eddie Edwards of Larry Sweeney’s American Wolves has issued a challenge for March 20th just outside Pittsburgh. His partner in the Wolves, Davey Richards, was hand-picked by Nigel McGuinness and will be facing the team of KENTA and El Generico. With that in mind, Edwards wants to prove himself in the singles ranks, and Larry Sweeney has no doubt that he will. “It’s simple, Eddie Edwards has been looked over by the wrestling public,” said Sweeney. “But he’s top shelf in a team, and he’s top shelf on his own. Top shelf is only what Sweet-n-Sour deals with, and on March 20th in that dump Pittsburgh, Eddie will show the world why.” Signed for Pittsburgh is Eddie Edwards versus Brent Albright!
March 9th: Jimmy Jacobs of the Age of the Fall has suggested that the ROH Booking Committee allows what he calls a “day of reckoning for those that stand against the revolution”. Tyler Black, meanwhile, has been requesting a shot at Jacobs for March 21st in New York, the very location that Austin Aries and Jacobs laid Black to waste at Final Battle 2008. Jacobs hasn’t ruled out the match, but has been steadfast that any such match would have to take place under terms that he, and only he, sets. “Tyler Black is blinded by the sheep that mindlessly chant his name. As is Necro. These are prime examples of the kind of weakness that the revolution is pledged to eliminate. Black wants his revenge? He wants it at the 'scene of the crime'? Well, I know I’ll have Brodie Lee at my side, and if need be, I’m sure Austin Aries could be persuaded to fight fire as well. But we shall see if Tyler Black is willing to meet my demands, because that is the only way he’ll ever get another chance to exact the revenge his shallow soul desires.” More on this at it develops.
March 9th: Silas Young has just been added to Indianapolis on March 14th, and will be in singles competition.
March 9th: ROH officials are happy to announce that the ROH World Championship will be defended on April 3rd in Houston. The current ROH World Champion, Nigel McGuinness, has two defenses signed before ROH debuts in the Lone Star State - on March 13th against Brent Albright; and against KENTA on March 21st. Regardless of who is carrying the title by then, McGuinness or not, it will be on the line. ROH officials are anxious to see the outcome of the title match in St. Louis this Friday night so that they can narrow down the challengers for April 3rd in Houston.
March 9th: The "March Madness Sale" continues this week at ROHWrestling.com where you can save 30% Off Your Next Order. For complete details and to get the sale code, click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2338.
March 9th: “The Young Knockout Kid” Chris Hero and Larry Sweeney have been scouting talent as of late, and have been very impressed by the resume of freelance lucha talent, Incognito. “Here’s a guy with tremendous upside,” said Hero. “He’s got the athleticism, heart, and obviously tremendous skill. He just needs direction.” Sweeney added, “Sweet-N-Sour Incorporated has been very successful in guiding foreign talent in ROH, and we’ve been looking to spread our reach into Mexico and beyond.” ROH officials have learned that Sweeney has been in contact with Incognito about a “Sweet-N-Sour Audition” of sorts, apparently to take place in Houston when ROH debuts there on the weekend of April 3rd and 4th. We’ll have more on this going forward.
March 9th: Ring of Honor is happy announce a working agreement with Booker T, the Booker T Fights for Kids Foundation, and the “Legends of Wrestling” Fanfest, taking place at the George R. Brown Convention Center on April 3rd in Houston. This is the same venue that will house the two ROH events that weekend. General Admission Booker T Fanfest tickets are free to anyone who has already purchased a ticket to the April 3rd Ring of Honor event at the Convention Center! This is sure to be a wonderful time for wrestling fans in the Houston area; for more information, please visit www.bookertlow.com. |

Unstoppable Force?
Monday, March 09, 2009
It’s been 2 months since Ring of Honor first felt the impact of Bison Smith’s arrival. At “Full Circle” in Manassas, VA the 300 lbs. monster hopped the guardrail and decimated both Rhett Titus and Sean Denny who were in the midst of a singles match. The following night in Edison, NJ at “Injustice II” it was Grizzly Redwood and Chris Escobar who felt the wrath of the Bisontennial. While his motivation was uncertain, it was evident that Smith wanted nothing more than to destroy anything in his path.
2 weeks later, “Motor City Madness 2009”, Smith once again elected to attack ROH competitors during their match. Once again Grizzly Redwood was on the wrong end of the beating, as were Andy Ridge and The Irish Airborne. This time, ROH Correspondent Kyle Durden attempted to get a word from Bison as he left the building but was greeted with threats and intimidation while the behemoth yelled “No one can stop me!”
The next night it became clear exactly what Bison Smith’s goal seemed to be. During the midst of the Bryan Danielson/Austin Aries/Tyler Black/Jimmy Jacobs match, Danielson dove onto his opponents in the crowd. As the former ROH World champion recovered, Bison attacked him from behind and delivered a vicious powerbomb on the floor that put Danielson out of commission. As ROH headed to Florida, it was questionable whether or not Danielson would be able to compete in his scheduled matches due to a concussion suffered from Bison’s attack. Bryan stated that he was cleared by his doctors to compete, but was still suffering some side effects from the concussion. During that weekend, dubbed “Proving Ground ‘09”, ROH gave Bison an opportunity to prove himself in officially sanctioned singles competition and he delivered with authority as he demolished both Sal Rinauro and John Kermon on back-to-back nights. The first night Danielson teamed with Jerry Lynn to defeated Jimmy Jacobs and Delirious, and the following evening he fell to El Generico in a highly competitive contest. During that Generico match, Bison once again attempted to get his hands on Danielson but got caught coming into the ring. That distraction though proved crucial to Generico securing the victory.
Following the match Bison immediately attacked, laying out Generico before taking Danielson and once again powerbombing him into the mat. If there was any doubt about his intentions before, it was now obvious what Bison intentions were.
On February 26th, Danielson asked the ROH Booking Committee for matches with Bison on both March 13th and 14th in St. Louis and Indianapolis. But on March 3rd, Bison agreed to the 13th but refused the 14th with these words, “I don’t answer to empty challenges. I only need one match with him to finish the task I was given. There isn’t any need for another.” So this Friday at the Gateway Center, Danielson will get his opportunity to exact his vengeance. Bryan has hopefully had sufficient time to recover from the two concussive powerbombs suffered just a few weeks ago because Bison is most certainly looking to do more of the same to the American Dragon. And with the revelation in the ROH Videowire shortly thereafter that Smith was under the managerial services on Prince Nana, one must wonder if the Prince will play any role in the events of the weekend?
Tickets are still available right here at www.rohwrestling.com, and they will be available at the door this Friday night. Come check out this epic battle, as well as McGuinness vs. Albright, Tyler Black, Jerry Lynn, Steen & Generico, and “THE NATURE BOY” RIC FLAIR!!! |

Four Warriors Collide
Tuesday, March 10, 2009
The paths of four of ROH’s best will cross this Saturday when Ring of Honor comes to Indianapolis. Nigel McGuinness and Austin Aries will team to battle Tyler Black and Jerry Lynn in a dream tag team match that highlights ROH’s debut in the state of Indiana.
These four men’s histories have been intertwined for quite some time. Aries and Nigel, well partners for the night, have spent a great deal of time battling one another. As far back as “Unscripted II” in February of 2006 when Aries challenged for the ROH Pure Title, these two men have gone toe-to-toe on numerous occasions. Whether it be their brutal ROH match of the year at “Rising Above 2007” or their battle at “Supercard of Honor III” these two fierce competitors have given, and taken, the best each other has to offer.
Conversely, Jerry Lynn and Tyler Black have competed against one another on several occasions but on very different terms. At “Ring of Homicide 2”, in an athletic contest, Black managed to beat the veteran and at “Motor City Madness 2009” the two wrestlers were deadlocked after 20 minutes. Most recently in Danbury, CT, Lynn & Black were on opposite sides of an ROH World Title Four Way. The common thread within all of their meetings has been a competitive rivalry. No hatred, no intent to maim or injure, just the desire to prove which man is the better wrestler.
Well both teams came to unite with different histories each path has created a certain amount of respect between the pairs; a respect born out of blood, sweat, tears, and being pushed to your limits by your fellow competitors. But both teams have also come together out of their mutual dislike, their mutual hatred for their opponents. Both Jerry Lynn and Tyler Black have reasons to despise Nigel McGuinness. Both have been screwed over, disrespected, and demeaned by the arrogant champion. Both have had their title aspirations shorted by nefarious means and the interference of others. And while there’s no bad blood between Aries and Lynn, the same cannot be said of Aries and Black. Their battles at “Age of Insanity” and “Wrestling at the Gateway”, among others, set the stage for “Final Battle 2008” when Aries blasted Black with a chair and proceeded to beat him down alongside Jimmy Jacobs. That duo also helped in screwing Black in his title match against Nigel at “Injustice II”.
The hatred in this contest rivals that of some of the greatest rivalries in ROH history, and it will explode in Indianapolis. It may not settle their scores, it may not bring closure to the issues between these competitors, but it will deliver some sort of satisfaction to the victors. Be it Nigel & Aries or Black & Lynn, the winners of this match will be one stop closer to putting an end to the rivalry.
The real winners though are going to be the fans in attendance to witness four of the best go to battle. Tickets are available right here at www.rohwrestling.com, and will be available on Saturday night at the door. |
