World Title Match Set For “Supercard of Honor IV”

Monday, March 23, 2009

By virtue of his pinfall victory over Nigel at the recent Indianapolis event, Jerry Lynn secured himself an ROH World Title match against the winner of the KENTA/McGuinness contest that took place in New York City this past Saturday. With that match in the books, it is now official that Jerry Lynn will face Nigel McGuinness at “Supercard of Honor IV” on Friday night April 3rd in Houston, TX!

They went at it on June 28th of 2008 at “Vendetta II” in a non-title match, and that night Nigel secured the victory over Jerry Lynn. They had another go at “Southern Hostility” only this time with Nigel’s ROH World Title on the line. McGuinness was once again able to secure the victory, only this time it required a bit of underhanded tactics.

And then the real fireworks exploded as Nigel proceeded to verbally rip Lynn to shreds. The words “Washed up”, “Dinosaur”, and “Geritol” spring to mind as part of the champion’s unwarranted verbal shredding of his challenger. Both that confrontation and the subsequent locker room blow-up can be witnessed here in the Videowire from 12/16/08: http://www.rohvideos.com/watch?v=1W2Y0JLYoGc&feature=channel_page.

Over the course of the next several months, Nigel seemingly made it his life’s goal to embarrass, humiliate, and spiritually break Jerry Lynn. Taking every opportunity to insult and denigrate the veteran, McGuinness went out of his way to draw comparisons between Lynn and the character of Randy the Ram in “The Wrestler”. At “Final Battle 2008”, Lynn tried to take the high road and congratulate McGuinness on his victory over Marufuji and was again insulted by the champion, accused of trying to “steal the spotlight” among other things. Lynn, fed up with Nigel’s taunts, challenged the champion on the spot but McGuinness, ever the coward, left through the crowd and out the back door.

ROH sat down with Jerry over the next few weeks, speaking with him about his career, his goals and aspirations, as well as the taunting from the World Champion, all of which is available through the ROH Video Wires. Lynn expressed his doubts and worries, broke down in tears as he told the world about his daughter, and expressed his desire to once again become a World Champion. Inside the ring, it was obvious a fire was lit under Lynn as his conditioning became noticeably better and his training regiment got more and more difficult, all in preparation for an opportunity to shove Nigel’s words down his throat.

That opportunity first came at “Eliminating The Competition” in a Four Way Elimination match with Nigel, Black, and Jacobs. It took some cooperation from McGuinness and Jacobs but they managed to eliminate Lynn from the match. Then in Indianapolis, Lynn & Danielson united to face Castagnoli & McGuinness in a tag match. The victors: Lynn & Danielson after Jerry pinned the champion. ROH officials immediately ruled that Lynn had earned a title shot by virtue of his pinfall on the champion, and now it has been officially scheduled for one of the biggest weekends of ROH’s year. This is Lynn’s opportunity to finally put the demon that is McGuinness to rest, to shut the mouth of the arrogant champion, and become champion himself. For McGuinness, it’s the chance to, as he may say, “put Geritol out to pasture”.

Tickets are still available right here at www.rohwrestling.com for both Friday night, and the Pay-Per-View taping Saturday afternoon. Don’t miss out on this great World Title match as well as KENTA vs. Davey Richards, Nakajima vs. Strong, Blue Demon Jr., Incognito, Magno, and all the great ROH stars!

He's Back!!!

Monday, March 23, 2009

The challenge was initially made by Prince Nana to Bryan Danielson. Come to New York City, find someone to team with you, and face Bison Smith and his unknown partner. Danielson, of course, accepted that challenge and promised surprises when he came to the “7th Anniversary show” at the Hammerstein.

First though Prince Nana unveiled his surprise. Accompanied to the ring by Bison and his Official Flag Bearer Ernie Osiris, the newly rich Nana spoke of how he regained his riches, of how The Embassy was back to take over Ring of Honor, and how he dipped into his deep pockets to bring back The Crown Jewel, Jimmy Rave!

Greeted with boo’s and some rather explicit chants from the fans, Rave was as loved as always, and when Danielson made his way to the ring, Jimmy and Bison immediately attacked the former ROH World Champion. At first, much to his credit, Grizzly Redwood attempted to save Danielson and avenge his repeated beatings from Bison, but was abruptly cut off and thrown from the ring rather violently by the behemoth.

Then the Hammerstein Ballroom was treated to a tune that ROH fans hadn’t heard in nearly two years. “Copa Cabana” blared out over the speakers as Colt Cabana made his highly anticipated return to Ring of Honor, sliding into the ring and siding with Danielson in opposition to The Embassy. The crowd was electric as “Welcome Back” and “Colt Cabana” chants rang out from the floor to the upper balconies, streamers flew thru the air and littered the ring, the celebration was in full effect at ROH’s birthday party, and the duo rode that momentum to a victory over Nana’s high-priced pair.

ROH’s locker room correspondent Kyle Durden was able to secure a few words with the jubilant Cabana that you will be able to see in an upcoming ROH Video Wire, but suffice to say that it seems that we will be seeing much more of Colt in the very near future. Cabana has just been added to both events in Houston on April 3rd and 4th, both TV Tapings in Philadelphia on April 9th and 10th, Montreal on April 17th, Markham on April 18th, Dayton on April 24th, and he'll return home to Chicago on Saturday, April 25th. Tickets for all events are now on sale at www.rohwrestling.com.

March 24th Newswire

March 24th: A big thank you to all of the fans that attended the live events in Elizabeth, PA and in New York City, as well as the numerous fans that watched the premiere episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” on HDNet. All of us at ROH are unbelievably grateful for all of the wonderful support we’ve received and we look forward to working harder than ever to bring you the best professional wrestling possible. The 7th Anniversary show was special for a number of reasons, and the debut of our television show is undoubtedly one of the proudest moments in company history. Everyone is ROH is extremely proud of how the series has started, and we know it will only get better. The next set of HDNet National Television tapings take place at the Arena in South Philly on April 9th and 10th. Tickets are available to both tapings at www.rohwrestling.com. For more information about ROH on HDNet, please visit http://www.hd.net/ringofhonorhtml.

March 24th: In case you missed the announcement on the main page at ROHWrestling.com, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair will be appearing in New York City when Ring of Honor returns to the Manhattan Center on Saturday, June 13th. Tickets for the live event and for the special meet and greet autograph session are on sale now at www.rohwrestling.com.

March 24th: Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana is back in ROH and he returned in a huge way at the 7th Anniversary Show in NY this past Saturday. Now he will make his way to Houston for ROH’s Texas debut on April 3rd and 4th. On April 3rd as part of “Supercard of Honor IV”, he has signed to take on D’Lo Brown in singles competition! Brown showed what appear to be his true colors at the 7th Anniversary show, cheating to pin Jay Briscoe, but only after giving what everyone thought was a heart-felt speech about being truly happy to be in ROH. Now the time to talk is over, and he’ll face another true-blue ROH performer in Cabana and Houston will be the site of the action! Will Brown pull another fast one?

March 24th: Cabana has requested, and ROH has granted, a special match for the April 4th “Take No Prisoners” card in Houston. It will be a clash of Second City Saints, as Cabana will face his trainer and mentor, Ace Steel! Obviously not strangers, and both with a world of respect for the other, this contest promises to be a special one for both competitors. Tickets are on sale now at www.rohwrestling.com.

March 24th: Colt Cabana has been added to both events in Canada starting April 17th in Montreal and April 18th in Markham, Ontario along with Dayton, OH on April 24th. Cabana will also return home to Chicago on Saturday, April 25th, almost two years to the day of the last time he competed in the Windy City for ROH. Tickets for all four of these events are on sale now at www.rohwrestling.com.

March 24th: The Necro Butcher came out of NYC with a severe laceration on his foot resulting from a dive from the top rope to the floor where his foot struck the steel barricade surrounding the ringside area. The cut, which required medical attention, will not keep Necro down and only adds to the myriad of scars left physically and emotionally by Jimmy Jacobs and his Age of the Fall. Now on April 4th in Houston as part of “Take No Prisoners”, Necro will have the chance to make Jacobs pay for all he’s done. It will be Necro versus Jacobs in a No Disqualification War!

March 24th: More history was made last weekend as Prince Nana brought the Embassy back to ROH, complete with his “crown jewel”, Jimmy Rave! With the monstrous Bison Smith and the thieving Ernie Osiris, it appears as though Nana is well on his way to making a statement. His claims that President Obama’s stimulus package is the source for his newly-regained financial strength are suspect, but what is clear is that the Embassy is back and looking for trouble. Jimmy Rave will appear in both Montreal and Toronto on April 17th and 18th, as well as in Dayton and Chicago on April 24th and 25th, and there’s no telling what Prince Nana has up his sleeve next!

March 24th: The saga between the American Wolves and the ROH World Tag Team Champions, Kevin Steen and El Generico, took a bloody and violent turn last Saturday. After escaping NYC with the titles, an injured Kevin Steen was brutally assaulted by Richards and Edwards, leaving him strapped to the ring cables and bloodied. Not only is his knee in a state of disarray, but the psyche of both Generico and Steen is also on the frits. Just signed for 4/4 in Houston is a huge 8-Man Tag Team attraction with plenty of bad blood to go around. It will be Kevin Steen, El Generico, Jay Briscoe, and rising lucha star, Magno, against the confident American Wolves, Chris Hero, and as the second part of his “Sweet-n-Sour tryout”, Incognito. Steen and Generico have never wanted to throttle Sweet-n-Sour more, Briscoe is still seeing red, and Magno never gets enough of Incognito! The fight rages on in Houston!

March 24th: Matt “M-Dogg” Cross impressed in his ROH return, and will be in action on April 24 in Dayton! We’ll have more talent and match announcements coming soon right here in the wire!

March 24th: Less than 24 hours remain in the "7th Anniversary Sale" to save 20-25% Off Your Next Order. Full details on the sale along with the discount codes can be found here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2689.

March 25th Newswire

March 25th: Another grudge tag team affair has been signed for “Supercard of Honor IV” on 4/3 in Houston. Austin Aries and Jimmy Jacobs want to hurt Tyler Black more than anyone else, problem is they can’t seem to keep from battling each other along the way. They’ll have another opportunity when ROH debuts in Houston as they’ll try to team up to face Tyler Black and the Necro Butcher in tag team action. Jacobs’ AOTF is crumbling all around him. Can he resurrect it before Tyler and Necro put it out of his misery?

March 25th: Speaking of Aries, in Pittsburgh he forged some sort of friendship with the “Pretty Boy Pit Bull” Kenny King and “Addicted to Love” Rhett Titus. Titus will be in action in Houston as he’ll take on the powerful Erick Stevens. Will “Addicted to Love” be learning some of the tricks of the trade from the “greatest man that ever lived”?

March 25th: A huge Four Corner Survival match has been inked for “Take No Prisoners” on 4/4. It will be a hard hitting affair as it will pit “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson against Erick Stevens, Jerry Lynn, and D’Lo Brown. Brown recently upset the ROH faithful by blatantly pulling Jay Briscoe’s trunks to secure victory in New York. Will those kinds of tactics work against the veteran Lynn, the freakishly strong Stevens, or the “Best In The World”? This match will have a variety of styles in play, and a lifetime of experience. A win by any of the men could propel them toward a higher slot on the pecking order.

March 25th: Once more the ROH and NWA World Champions will share the ring, but this time in an international tag team contest. Just signed for “Take No Prisoners” on April 4th is the team of ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness and frequent partner, “The Most Money Making Man” Claudio Castagnoli versus “Shooter” Brent Albright and NWA World Champion Blue Demon, Jr. Albright has plenty of history with McGuinness and Castagnoli, as it could be argued that Castagnoli cost Brent the ROH Title. Blue Demon, Jr. wanted to face the best that ROH had to offer; and it doesn’t get any better than the ROH World Champion.

March 25th: Just a reminder that the Pay-Per-View taping next Saturday in Houston, TX has been changed to a 2:00 PM start time. We look forward to seeing everybody in attendance.

March 25th: ROH officials are happy to announce that standout Canadian talents Frankie the Mobster, the Super Smash Brothers, and LuFisto will be a part of ROH’s return to Montreal on April 17 at Centre Jean-Claude Malepart. Tickets are on sale now at www.rohwrestling.com. ROH officials are also looking into the statements that former WWE Tag Team Champion, Sylvain Grenier, is allegedly making about ROH, Kevin Steen, and El Generico. More on this as it develops. We’ll have the first match announcements for Montreal and Toronto right here in Monday’s newswire!

March 25th: Kevin Steen and El Generico are incensed that they were decimated at the hands of the American Wolves in New York City; bloodied and driven through tables. And their rage has been conveyed to the ROH Booking Committee in a big way. The have flat out demanded another tag team match against the Wolves, and they don’t want a regular match. They want to give the Wolves the receipt of a lifetime. Steen and Generico have challenged Richards and Edwards to a “Tables Are Legal” match and they want the world to see it! They want ROH to broadcast the destruction on National TV! Steen and Generico have demanded that this match be a television main event on HDNet! We’ll have the Wolves answer soon, right here in the wire!

March 25th: We have two new specials running exclusively at ROHWrestling.com. You can currently purchase over 25 Ring of Honor DVD's from 2006 for only $8 each. You can also get general admission tickets for all upcoming events for only $10 each. For complete details click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2699. This is only a TWO DAY SALE so don't delay.

March 25th: In the next edition of the Newswire, look for more Dayton/Chicago talent as well as the 1st of the next 6 Television Main Events to be filmed on April 9th and 10th in Philly! Tickets for all four of those big events are on sale now at rohwrestling.com. Tickets start as low as $10 each.

A Violent Parting

Thursday, March 26, 2009

The history has been greatly detailed. Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black, The Necro Butcher and Lacey compromised The Age Of The Fall. At “Man Up” in September of 2007 they made their bloody debut on the ROH stage at the expense of the Briscoes. Many bloody months later and the unit held Tag Team gold, they seemed cohesive and united until they set their sights on recruiting Austin Aries. At that point, that core began to unravel.

It started with Lacey leaving to be with Aries, and then it became a mind game between Aries and Jacobs over one man: The Necro Butcher. That back-and-forth reached a fever pitch before finally exploding at “Death Before Dishonor VI” when Necro attacked Jacobs and broke the chains that bonded him to the AOTF. No more would he be a lackey, no more following Jacobs’ orders or being used, The Butcher would now stand on his own in the face of whatever adversity was thrown his way.

The first opportunity Necro had for retribution was at “Night of the Butcher II” when he faced Jacobs in a No DQ match. Unfortunately that night the stipulations of the match proved to be Necro’s undoing as the interference of Tyler Black ultimately cost him the victory.

And that would prove to be the case on numerous occasions. The numbers game played by the Age of the Fall has frequently been the determining factor in Necro’s bid for vengeance against his former ally. And losing Necro only opened the doors to new AOTF members like Delirious and Brodie Lee, more men Jacobs could put in the path of the Butcher, more bodies Jacobs could use to protect himself.

Be it “French Connection” when the group assaulted Necro and attempted to...ruin...his manhood, or “Bound by Hate” when the AOTF cost him his one and only World Title opportunity, the AOTF has done everything in its power to make Necro’s life hell. Suitable punishment in Jimmy’s mind for betraying the cause...

Never once since August ’08 has Jacobs elected to step into the ring with Necro in a one-on-one contest. It’s always been with Delirious, Tyler, or Brodie at his side, or most recently Austin Aries since his about-face after “Final Battle 2008”. But with the ranks of the AOTF thinning as both Black and Delirious came to see the truth behind Jacobs’ lies, there are less and less bodies for Jacobs to put in the way. There are fewer people to run-in and save the day for the AOTF leader, and that makes him afraid.

Fear is the only explanation for Jacob’s refusal to stand toe-to-toe with The Necro Butcher on a level playing field. After all this is the man who has competed against Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuinness, Aries, and Black with no hesitation; he went to bloody war with BJ Whitmer in a Steel Cage and Colt Cabana in a Windy City Deathmatch.

Jimmy has fought the most brutal of battles on numerous occasions, but Necro represents a man who has lived in that environment for most of his wrestling life. He’s seen and done things that no one on the ROH roster has, and that alone is reason to fear his wrath. And on April 4th, “Take No Prisoners” PPV, Jacobs will have no choice but to face the beast. No Brodie Lee to help him in Texas, he will have to stand on his own and pay penance for his sins...

March 27th: ROH officials are happy to announce the first three of the next 6 television main events to be filmed for Ring of Honor Wrestling on HDNet. The next National Television taping will take place on April 9th and 10th at The Arena in South Philadelphia. Tickets are on sale now and available at ROHWrestling.com. These three main event matches will take place on April 9th.

March 27th: Roderick Strong was on a very successful tour of Pro Wrestling NOAH when ROH filmed its first 6 weeks of television, and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone that could dispute either his importance or dedication to Ring of Honor. ROH officials are very happy that Strong will be at the next tapings, and not only that, he’ll be main-eventing one of the first 3 weeks to be filmed. ROH officials decided that his opponent should be one that will bring the best out of Strong. The ROH Booking Committee has decided that that man is none other than Austin Aries. The history between these two is well-documented, and we can’t think of a better match to show the world the style that made ROH famous. These two just tangled on March 20th in Pittsburgh, with Aries getting the duke with some help from his new found friends, Titus and King. Will that trend continue on National TV?

March 27th: The second of the first 3 main events to be filmed is a rematch from the 6th week to be filmed at the inaugural television tapings on March 1st. It is match-up of arguably the two most popular competitors in ROH at this time, and without question, two of the most talented athletes in all professional wrestling. One of these men has been World Champion the other aspires to accomplish the same thing. Once more, it will be Bryan Danielson and Tyler Black one-on-one for the world to admire. There is no hype necessary anytime these two step into the ring.

March 27th: The final of the three main events to be filmed on April 9th will feature the first time that the ROH World Tag Team Champions will appear together on Ring of Honor Wrestling on HDNet. During the first set of tapings, El Generico was conspicuously absent to the dismay of many. Now he will be at the side of “Mr. Wrestling” Kevin Steen, and they will oppose one of the best up-and-coming tag teams in wrestling in a rematch from Indianapolis on March 14th– Kenny King and Rhett Titus. King and Titus fell short in Indy, but now they’re apparently under the tutelage of Austin Aries. That alone could make a huge difference in this contest.

March 27th: The "Triple Savings Sale" returns this weekend at www.rohwrestling.com. The first part of the sale is 30% Off All Live Event Tickets. This is a great opportunity to save on tickets for Ring of Honor live action in your area. The second part of the sale features over 60 DVD's priced at $5 Each (or less). Includes in the sale are many Straight Shootin' titles, FIP DVD's, and ROH Best of DVD's. The third part of the sale allows you to save 15% Off Your Next Order. You can use this part of the sale to save even more money off the previous deals mentioned, or you can save on almost everything else we sell. Complete details on the sale can be found here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2151.

March 27th: ROH is poised to return to the wonderful fans in Dayton and Chicago on April 24th and 25th. Already signed for both events: Bryan Danielson, Kevin Steen, El Generico, Jerry Lynn, Chris Hero, and making their Dayton and Chicago debut, The Dark City Fight Club. Tickets for both events are on sale now at ROHWrestling.com. We’ll have more talent announcements soon right here in the Newswire!

March 27: You can catch Ring of Honor Wrestling on HDNet Saturday night at 8:00 PM. In action will be Kevin Steen vs. Eddie Edwards, Sara Del Rey vs. Daizee Haze, Claudio Castagnoli vs. Alex "Sugarfoot" Payne, and the main event features ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness vs. Jay Briscoe. For more information visit http://www.hd.net/ringofhonor.html. HDNet is available in the U.S. and Canada on Bright House Networks, DIRECTV, DISH Network, Charter Communications, Comcast (Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, & Minneapolis), Insight Communications, Mediacom Communications, Time Warner Cable, NCTC Affiliated cable systems, Verizon Fios, Bell Express Vu, Star Choice, Shaw, and Cogeco.

March 27: Don’t forget that Ring of Honor is happy to be working with Booker T and the Booker T Fights for Kids Foundation in support of the “Legends of Wrestling” Fanfest, taking place at the George R. Brown Convention Center on April 3rd in Houston from 1-8pm. General Admission Booker T Fanfest tickets are free to anyone who has already purchased a ticket to “Supercard of Honor IV”, taking place that night at the Convention Center! For more information on this great event, please visit www.bookertlow.com.

March 27th: This week's version of the ROH Video Wire can been viewed here: http://www.rohvideos.com/watch?v=sM4itgq2IPA. You'll hear comments from the returning Colt Cabana, Davey Richards, Bryan Danielson, Julius Smokes, plus see highlights from last weekend's live event in Elizabeth, PA.

March 27: We’ll be back next week with the first look at the cards for Montreal on April 17th and Toronto on April 18th, as well as news on the second three TV main events to be filmed on April 10th in Philly!

Familiar Foes

Monday, March 30, 2009

For a long time, beginning on 5/22/04 at “Generation Next”, the ROH careers of Roderick Strong and Austin Aries have been very closely tied to one another. That night introduced the ROH faithful to a group of four men (Strong, Aries, Jack Evans, and Alex Shelley) who had bonded together in order to take the top spots in ROH. Not content to bid their time and earn their way, these four young upstarts elected to force their way onto the scene.

Yet despite all their bravado, or maybe because of it, these four individuals did indeed accomplish their goals. From that night until their official farewell at “Generation Now” in July of 2006, each man made an impact in their own way upon Ring of Honor. The focus right now though is on two of these fighters: Aries and Strong.
Aries was the first man to really explode onto the scene, ending the historic World Title run of Samoa Joe at “Final Battle 2004” and carrying the belt until June ’05 before losing to CM Punk. During his reign Aries bested such competitors as Bryan Danielson, Colt Cabana, James Gibson, Super Crazy, and former ally Alex Shelley. He took the title everywhere from Canada to Switzerland, and laid out quite a legacy for himself as champion.

In that time, Strong and Evans attempted to become ROH Tag Team champions on several occasions but came up just short in their bids. But Roderick was also developing into a tremendous singles competitor once he came under the tutelage of James Gibson, and in facing the best ROH had to offer on a consistent basis, Strong even beat Gibson at “Unforgettable” in October of ’05. But the biggest night of his ROH career to that point came on December 17, 2005 when he and Aries united to become the ROH Tag Team champions.

Together they were magnificent. Defeating the Briscoes, Doi & CIMA, and Joe & Lethal, among others Strong & Aries established themselves as one of the most dominant championship teams in ROH history. Tied with the Briscoes for most successful defenses, this duo was the team who made the ROH Tag Titles into a World Championship and rank second by only two days for the longest tag title reign.

But all that history, all those ties to bind, came crashing to the ground at “Fifth Year Festival: NYC” when Strong turned his back on Aries to form the No Remorse Corps. The war between Aries and Strong came to an abrupt halt when Aries was forced to leave ROH for several months, and the NRC victimized Aries’ Resilience faction, asserting their dominance in ROH.

But as with all things, the NRC ran its course and this time it was Strong who was the victim of betrayal when Davey Richards joined Sweet & Sour Inc. at “Respect is Earned II”. Life had come full circle, and in the year since that night, Strong has evolved into a cornerstone of ROH and become one of the most strongly supported wrestlers on the roster.

But that bad blood between Strong and Aries was never truly settled. Simmering just below the surface, the two competitors locked horns in Elizabeth, PA on March 20th in singles competition. Aries emerged victorious, but not without the assistance of Rhett Titus and Kenny King, two men that Aries has seemingly taken under his wing.

And now these two warriors will have another opportunity to settle their grudge on ROH’s biggest stage. As was recently announced, Strong and Aries will meet once more in Philadelphia on April 9th as part of the ROH on HDNet TV tapings. Will King & Titus make their presence felt once again? Or will Strong get a fair shake at The Arena? The best way to find out is to be there live.

Tickets for this evening, as well as for the taping on April 10th, are available right here at www.rohwrestling.com. Don’t miss this epic grudge match, as well as Danielson vs. Black, Steen & Generico vs. King & Titus, and much, much more!

March 30th: Larry Sweeney was none too happy to see that Bobby Dempsey survived the first of the two remaining contracts under Sweet-N-Sour control. Now we’ve learned that Sweeney has been scouring the globe for a challenge that Dempsey won’t be able to overcome. When asked where he’s been searching, Sweeney spouted, “Places. All kinds of places. Big places, small places, in between places. I’ve been searching in the deepest, darkest, places too. See you in Houston, Dempsey.”

March 30th: Signed for April 17th in Montreal as part of ROH’s big return to the great white north are two matches. Prince Nana brought Jimmy Rave back to ROH, and Colt Cabana spoiled that return. Nana says it should have been a return to glory, one of reverence. But in New York it wasn’t, so now the “crown jewel” will come to Montreal with a purpose – defeat Cabana and receive the adoration he deserves. It’ll be Cabana versus Rave in Montreal! Also signed for Montreal is a SHIMMER showcase match, pitting Daizee Haze against LuFisto! The Haze just was successful in freeing Delirious from the clutches of the Age of the Fall, and now she’ll tangle with one of Canada’s finest wrestling women!

March 30th: Signed for suburban Toronto on April 18th are two big encounters. Roderick Strong and Jay Briscoe had a fantastic match in suburban St. Louis that saw Roddy earn the victory. The ROH faithful gave both men a standing ovation after the match, and both men shook hands. Briscoe immediately told Roddy that he wanted to run it back, and both men have signed the dotted line for Toronto! It’ll be Strong/Briscoe II on 4/18! Also signed is a special Six Man Tag Team attraction. In Pittsburgh, Austin Aries exposed an alliance of sorts with Kenny King and Rhett Titus. Now they’ll all work together for the first time in ROH as they will oppose the team of Kenny Omega and the ROH World Tag Team Champions, Kevin Steen and El Generico! Aries and Omega have battled on National TV, and the champs have faced, and beaten, Titus and King. This time it’s three-on-three, and it happens on April 18th in Markham! Tickets are now on sale for 30% off to both events in Canada at www.rohwrestling.com!

April 1st Newswire

April 1st: We’re only two days away from one of the biggest weekends of the year as ROH debuts in a big way in Houston! Don’t forget that everyone with a ticket to Friday’s “Supercard of Honor IV” event gets free admission to Booker T’s Legends of Wrestling Fanfest earlier that day at the George R. Brown Convention Center. For more information, please visit www.bookertlow.com. Also, don’t forget about the official ROH after-party on Friday night after the event, hosted by Griff’s, Houston’s Oldest Sports Bar! Several of your favorite ROH stars will be on hand, and we’ve been told that a special collector’s edition ROH autograph card commemorating the date will be available that night at Griff’s. Come and enjoy the food and atmosphere and get autographs from the stars of Ring of Honor! For a look at the menu available at Griff’s, visit www.griffshouston.net.

April 1st: A long standing rivalry has has finally been signed for the April 10th National Television Tapings at the Arena in South Philly. One of wrestling’s most heated rivalries comes to ROH and the first meeting in Ring of Honor between Chris Hero and Eddie Kingston will take place on National Television! Hero recently said that “now isn’t the time for Eddie Kingston, now is the time for that Young Knockout Kid”. Kingston doesn’t feel that way, and he knows he has to prove himself to the fans of ROH. Kingston told ROH officials that a win over his hated rival will be more than enough to prove to the world that he belongs in Ring of Honor. Hero and Larry Sweeney are not happy about this match, and are protesting to the ROH Booking Committee. We’ll have news on more matches signed for the April 9th and 10th HDNet TV Tapings in the next Newswire.

April 1st: Two big tag team matches have been signed for April 17th in Montreal. The brash team of Kenny King and Rhett Titus have told ROH officials that they are learning more than ever under the tutelage of Austin Aries. Now they’ll get the chance to prove it as they have signed on to face Delirious and The Necro Butcher! Titus has had his share of run-ins with Necro in the past, and he could be looking for a little retribution! Also signed for April 17th, two huge feuds have apparently come together in one big tag team battle. Tyler Black wants the blood of Jimmy Jacobs on his hands. Brent Albright wants the same from Claudio Castagnoli. Neither Jacobs nor Castagnoli were willing to sign on for a one-on-one encounter, but after a conference call with ROH officials, both men agreed to a tag team match. It seems like both Jacobs and Castagnoli are playing mind games, but its fine as it’ll be Black and Albright facing Jacobs and Castagnoli on April 17th!

April 1st: Speaking of Claudio Castagnoli, he’s signed on for a very high profile encounter in Toronto on April 18th. Castagnoli is fond of letting everyone know that he’s “very European”, and now he’s going to face a proud Chicagoan as it’ll be Castagnoli versus Colt Cabana in suburban Toronto! Cabana made a splash in his ROH return, and now he’s making moves to climb the ROH ladder once again. A victory over Castagnoli would do wonders to raise his stock!

April 1st: Also signed for April 18th in Markham is a serious grudge match. Delirious fell short in his bid for revenge against Jimmy Jacobs in Indianapolis on March 14. Now he’ll have another opportunity, as it will be Jacobs/Delirious II on April 18th north of the border. Their first encounter was a No Disqualification battle that saw Jacobs drive the Masked Lizard Man through a table before locking in his dreaded Guillotine Choke for the win. Delirious was understandably distraught afterward and now, more than ever, wants revenge. As a result, he’s asked ROH officials for, and been granted, a Markham Street Fight on April 18th!

April 1st: More stars of ROH have been confirmed for the ROH return to Dayton and Chicago on April 24th and 25th. Just signed: The American Wolves with Larry Sweeney, Tyler Black, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, Jimmy Jacobs, Rhett Titus, and Claudio Castagnoli! We’ll have the first matchups for Dayton and Chicago next week in the Newswire!

April 1st: There are a few hours remaining in the "Triple Savings Sale". You have until 9 PM EST tonight to take advantage of three special offers. Details on the sale can be found here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2151.
