Ever since the announcement of KENTA’s knee injury, ROH officials have been hard at work trying to find a suitable replacement for the GHC Jr. Heavyweight champion. After some back and forth discussions, representatives from Pro Wrestling NOAH and Kensuke Office came up with an exemplary replacement in the form of the former GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion Katsuhiko Nakajima!!!

Nakajima hasn’t participated in an ROH event since “Take No Prisoners 2009” when he paired with Austin Aries in a losing effort against Tyler Black & KENTA, but he also was part of some of the hardest hitting affairs in the last year in his matches with Bryan Danielson from “Glory by Honor VII” and Roderick Strong at “Supercard of Honor IV”.

His opponents for the upcoming events will be announced shortly, so stay tuned to ROHWrestling.com for all your Ring of Honor news. Tickets for both Novi, MI on 11/13 and Mississauga, ON on 11/14 are still available right here at www.rohwrestling.com and make sure you take advantage of our 35% - 40% off sale before it expires!

Nakajima vs. Omega, Generico sounds good.

A nice start. Can we book him for more than nine minutes like was done against Roderick at "Supercard"?

Thank you, ROH! I've never seen Nakajima live and I've wanted to since I first saw one of his matches several years ago on a Dragon Gate DVD. He's a perfect replacement for KENTA.

Forgive me if I'm wrong...but I don't see anywhere in that listing that Nakajima was ONLY going to be on 11/13 and 11/14. I think they were just selling tickets.

I think people need to check their negativity at the door...sounded to me like Nakajima will be here for all of KENTA's scheduled dates.

Ok, so as an update i did check all of the upcoming dates for November and Nakajima is only schedule for that weekend...

my theory is, however, they used the same plane tickets that were already purchased...therefore, we may see him earlier

I guess maybe I'm being too optimistic?

Nakajima is listed on the lineups for the Michigan/Ontario weekend shows but not the Philly/Edison shows. Also, someone in the "KENTA injured" thread mentioned that Kensuke Office has a show on 11/7 so it doesn't look like Nakajima will be in Philly or Edison. That could change, though.

The Castagnoli match up doesn't excite me at all.

Nakajima/Generico on the other hand..

Actually.. Nakajima/Generico/Castagnoli?

Honestly, the fact that they were able to secure a replacement like Nakajima for even 2 of the 5 shows is pretty impressive! With the short time frame between KENTA's injury and these shows, I really didn't think they'd be able to bring anyone in (especially from Japan) for any of these shows, and they were just going to have to reshuffle and put on the best ROH shows they could given the talent they have booked. Which, even if they were good shows, would have been crapped on as "not as good since KENTA wasn't here" by some. Now they've at least got a replacement for the MI and Canada shows, which honestly, were the more important ones to get the replacement for, since they need to sell DVD's of those shows. HDNet isn't going to drop them because they didn't get Nakajima for the TV shows, so no pain there (other than disappointed fans, but it's out of their control). But, for the MI and Canada shows that they need to sell as DVD's, it was important to get something done to make them special. There were lots of great suggestions about Round Robin Challenges, tournaments, etc. Which all could have worked, and worked well, but this is just awesome, and still gives the fans in those places a feeling that they are seeing someone special (which they are). Very good move by ROH!
