Delirious Returns From Japan!
Monday, November 02, 2009

In the next twenty-four hours Delirious will make his return to the United States following an extremely successful tour of Pro Wrestling NOAH that saw the masked man come so close to challenging for the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title.

As part of the Junior Heavyweight League tournament, Delirious was part of the A-Block that included Kotaro Suzuki, Ricky Marvin, Katsuhiko Nakajima, and KENTA. Dropping his first match of the tournament to Nakajima, Delirious rebounded with back to back wins over then-GHC Jr. Champion KENTA and Ricky Marvin. For Delirious, it all came down to a match with Kotaro Suzuki to determine if he would go on to the final two rounds of the tournament, but unfortunately Delirious feel victim to a Suzuki Tiger Driver.

Even with the loss, Delirious found himself in a position to get into the finals of the tournament. A very unfortunate injury to KENTA in a match with Suzuki forced officials to stop the match and award the contest to Suzuki, placing him one point ahead of Delirious in the standings, and giving him the right to challenge Jushin “Thunder” Liger in the semi-finals.

Fate stepped in once more, as Suzuki was unfortunately stricken with a terrible bout of influenza, and Delirious found himself back in a position to get to the finals of the Jr. Heavyweight League. With the injury to KENTA, NOAH officials were also forced to vacate the title, and the winner of the League would be crowned the new champion. Delirious was now in a position to become the 2nd Gaijin on the ROH roster to capture the GHC Jr. Title.

Unfortunately for the masked man, the legendary Liger pinned Delirious, ending his aspirations of becoming champion. Even with that loss, the tournament and the tour were extremely successful for Delirious. The level of competition he faced forced him to elevate his game, and that is something that will only serve to make Delirious that much tougher when he returns to action here in ROH. We’ve seen it before with others like Chris Hero, Eddie Edwards, and most importantly for Delirious, Roderick Strong.

Why is that important? Because ROH officials have made the match for November 7th in Edison, NJ: Delirious vs. Roderick Strong!!! Both men were a big part of “Survival of the Fittest 2009”, and both men have felt the rigors of a Pro Wrestling NOAH tour. Will that experience prove as crucial for Delirious as it did for Roderick Strong? We will found out at the Inman Sports Club in just a few days!

IMO it's a long step down from KENTA to Delirious. I hope Delirious has added something to his game over in Japan because in all honesty he seems to still wrestle pretty much the same match that he's been wrestling for the last three years.

I'm hoping this is Delirious' break-out match here in ROH. Or at least his second break-out match, since many cite his match against Danielson from 06 was it as a break-out match. If the trip to Japan has rubbed off well on Delirious, I think we could be in for a surprise show stealer.

Yeah, this definitely dropped my interest in the Edison show, as it seems the injury bug will ruin another show. The ace in the hole here is Aries. Maybe if they give him a really good title match, I'd consider going.

Given what Delirious has done in Japan recently, I really expect this match to be something special. I think we're going to see a bit of a new side to Delirious.

i certainly don't mind Delirious. he has a one of a kind Gimmick and a solid mid Carder, and has surprised all of us on occation. ( plus Daizee goes where he goes). But he needs to have the match of his career to make up for Kenta

Well, here is your answer.

November 2nd: ROH World Champion Austin Aries has informed the ROH Booking Committee that since they have already have him scheduled for more than one title defense in November, he will NOT defend the championship in Edison, NJ this weekend. He instead will team with protégé Rhett Titus in tag team action.

This match is about as fresh and exciting as the pile of dirty laundry on my floor.

IMO the NJ market is sliding backwards and it definitely didnt need to lose KENTA from this week's show.obviously that is out of their control but it's hard to believe this is the same place that had like 1000 fans for Final Battle 2005.I know part of it is them running in NYC now but still.

I love how you guys are shi**ing on Delirious for being such a huge step down from Kenta. Is it his fault that Kenta got injured? And why does it fall solely on him to make up for the loss of Kenta?

Okay I for one am looking at this not as a step down at all... KENTA and Roderick has been done twice and both were great but yes a third match Would be great but the result of that match is usually predictable as to the result...as for Liger Vs Delirious it was a good entertaining match and I Think Delirious has up'd his game more....Remember Delirious Circa 2006...well think that but with more focus now than ever before.....He's come along way since his battle's with American Dragon and Matt Sydal....and I for one have been waiting for a Strong Vs Delirious for a long time. I can see this being a match of the night if given the right amount of time...but I can't say for sure... So don't complain about a change in a card when one match has little less predictability in it than the original.....I actually can say Delirious Vs Strong for me is A match that should be great. We just have to wait to see. As the old adage goes Don't Knock It until you try it.

This has the potential to be very good, I just hope they change the direction of Delirious.

i'm just being a baby cuz i was so stoked to see KENTA vs Strong live and of all wrestlers they pick Delirious to wrestle Strong in Edison. Last time I wanted to hate a match (Hero vs Lynn in Boston) I ended up loving it so ya never know.

Well, at least they are being honest about their desire to finish destroying the Edison market to the same extent they've destroyed the Philadelphia market by booking Strong/Delirious X as a main event caliber match, when Delirious has been little more than a jobber to the stars for the last two and a half years.
