Throughout his time in RoH, Chris Hero has managed to stay relevant by changing his character multiple times. Whether he was the leader of the hardcore CZW, the Sweet N' Sour guy, the goofy Chris Hero or the Young Knockout Kid he has always left an impression.
Although his record (this year) is a little questionable, he has managed to put on great matches against the likes of KENTA, Danielson and Lance Storm.
What are your thoughts on.. Chris Hero? |

Yep. Other than CZW Hero I hated everything else he had done until about August of last year when the knockout kid gimmick popped up. Since then the man is untouchable. |

| i liked flippy Hero. wasnt keen on TYKOK gimmick when debuted as his elbows looked weak. thankfully they've improved hugely, looking devastating and i enjoy watching him on the HDnet shows. (dont have any '09 dvds yet) |

| The guy has IT. He has charisma, in ring ability, and great mic skills. I've loved every stage of his ROH career from CZW guy, flippy Hero, and TYKOK Hero. Only character left for him to do is a big face turn, which I totally dig. Absolutely a future world champ and possibly the next. |

| I loved flippy Hero with a passion. I'm fine with the much more athletic and presentable Hero though...one more backflip would be nice to see though... |

He was one of my least favorite acts on the indies for a long time. There were worse wrestlers, but they weren't as high on the card, not in so many promotions, and their matches weren't given the time his were. He'd have a good outing here or there and I'd get hopeful, only to have those hopes dashed the next time he wrestled. Even his first year in ROH was pretty poor in-ring, including having the low-point of Danielson's title reign at Hell Freezes Over. He could talk, but I didn't buy DVD's to hear people talk.
Flippy Funny Hero was the first time I regularly enjoyed him. He was a funny bastard heel, even if crowds insisted on cheering him, and his athleticism was legitimately impressive, while usually framed as humorous, which only made it better. The character was versatile, allowing for bastardly fun in Man Up's opener, huge drama against McGuinness at Glory By Honor 6, or general comedy.
The KO Kid was really rough going. There was a long stretch where his matches returned to being pretty worthless. But he stuck to it, and it was a necessary part of his growth. Timing in-between strikes and pacing counters and moves had always been a problem for him. By basing his matches on something that required so much pacing, he got the experience and improved drastically. Now his timing is up there with Black, Strong and Aries, and he already had the other tools necessary to be a great performer. His recent HDNet match with KENTA is probably the best singles match I've ever seen him have and is one of the best ROH has had on TV or DVD all year. I'm looking forward to watching the Canada shows for his match against Lance Storm.
It doesn't hurt that he's gotten himself into the best shape of his life, either. |

| I loved Hero's character, whether it's CZW Hero or flippy Hero, but didn't love his matches. I didn't really get into That Young Knockout Kid right away either, as I wasn't really into the character or his matches. Enter this year, where he's cutting killer promos, I'm finally getting into this KO Kid persona, and he's having great matches with Jerry Lynn, Lance Storm, KENTA, etc. I'm completely behind Hero now, as he may be one of, if not the best, all-around wrestler on the ROH roster now, and I hope for a World Title reign in the future. |
