Look for comments from the ROH World Tag Team Champions, Davey Richard and Eddie Edwards – The American Wolves, as well as a can’t miss interview with Eddie Kingston about his quest to battle Chris Hero, a sneak peek at the Super Smash Brothers versus Brent Albright and Erick Stevens, plus “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, and a preview of this weeks episode of Ring of Honor on HDNet!
May 28th: Speaking of Brent Albright and Erick Stevens, they’ve signed to team up once again in Detroit on June 26th. This time they’ll face the duo of Kenny King and Rhett Titus. King and Titus are definitely the more established team, and under the guidance of Austin Aries have never looked sharper. Can the powerhouse tandem of Stevens and Albright plow over the cocky King and Titus, or will “Rhettski the Jet-ski” and the “Pretty Boy Pitbull” continue to impress in the ROH tag team division? Be there on 6/26 and find out!
May 28th: Speaking of Kenny King, he’s signed for singles action on June 27th when ROH returns to Chicago! His opponent that night has come off a very successful tour for All-Japan Pro Wrestling, and is looking to find a home in ROH – Petey Williams! This match is sure to be one of the more athletic contests you’ll ever see. Can King continue to show why he may be the next rising star in ROH, or can Petey immediately make everyone take notice by scoring the win? Tickets to both Detroit and Chicago are on sale now at www.rohwrestling.com!
May 28th: Former ROH World Champion, Nigel McGuinness, has read the main page from yesterday (http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2825), and seems to be happy about the uncertainty of his situation. “No one knows exactly what to expect,” said Nigel. “The fans don’t, the wrestlers don’t, I don’t, and Cary Silkin doesn’t either. But one thing is for certain, I’ve got everyone on their toes – even the ol’ Nature Boy. I’ll sit at ringside in New York, and he won’t even know what to expect while he referees the title match. And this weekend in Philadelphia, I’ll make sure to keep the HDNet crew and everyone else on their toes as well.” Nigel will be in Philly this weekend, as well as in Manassas on 6/12, and of course at the Hammerstein on 6/13!
May 28th: ROH officials are meeting with representatives of Pro Wrestling NOAH this weekend in Philadelphia to discuss KENTA’s opponents in Detroit and Chicago. ROH wants to deliver two ‘top shelf’ matches, and we hope to have an announcement next week!
May 28th: D'Lo Brown is happy to be returning to his old stomping grounds – Chicago. And his match on June 27th stems from the Four Corner Survival he had in Houston this past April. “I had a shot,” said Brown. “I had a chance to shock the world and win the ROH Title. But in looking forward to carrying the gold, I overlooked someone in that match. Someone who was bad enough to stand toe-to-toe with me. Well, Erick Stevens, let’s see if you can do it again. I wouldn’t bet on it.” It’ll be a battle of heavyweights as D’Lo will face Stevens in Chicago!
May 28th: You can now save 25% Off Your Next Order at ROHWrestling.com. Save on DVD's, live event tickets, apparel, & more. Just released and in stock is the "7th Anniversary Show" from 3/21/09 in New York City. This event features Nigel McGuinness vs. KENTA for the ROH World Title; Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. The American Wolves for the World Tag Titles; Bryan Danielson & a mystery partner vs. Bison Smith & a mystery partner; Tyler Black, Delirious, & The Necro Butcher vs. Jimmy Jacobs, Brodie Lee, & Austin Aries; plus more.
May 26th: As announced this morning in the main page article http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2815, the American Wolves will face Kevin Steen and El Generico in a submissions match on June 13th in New York! Kevin Steen has been rabid at the thought of using tables, chairs, ladders, basically anything to defeat – to DESTROY – the Wolves, but Richards and Edwards see it differently. “WE call the shots,” said Edwards. “We wear the gold. So Steen can cry about whatever he wants, it’s our way or no way.” Judging their comments in the article, it seems obvious that the Wolves feel they can exploit Generico’s injured knee and use the weakness to gain a sure victory. Steen and Generico are fighting uphill in this match for sure. Can the underdog overcome the odds? Can Generico protect that injured knee against bloodthirsty Wolves?
May 26th: Signed for June 26th in Detroit is a very important match for former ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness. In Houston, he was scheduled to tag with Claudio Castagnoli to battle Brent Albright and Blue Demon, Jr. But Nigel’s health prevented him from participating in that match, and Castagnoli was none too happy. Claudio took to attacking Nigel from behind, adding insult to his already apparent injury. Now Claudio will have to look Nigel in the eye and answer for his actions.
May 26th: Take No Prisoners 2009 is coming to Pay-Per-View! Also announced on the main page (http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2812), the latest Ring of Honor Pay-Per-View broadcast coming from Houston, Texas will begin airing on June 12th on InDemand, Direct TV, DISH Network, & TVN in the United States and in Canada on Bell Express Vu & Viewer’s Choice Canada.
May 26th: Signed for July 25th in Toronto is a grudge match that has brewed since “Northern Navigation”. Chris Hero versus Lance Storm. Need we say anything more? We’ll have Storm’s opponent for the event on July 24th soon here in the Newswire.
May 26th: Last week in the Newswire, Prince Nana stated that he and the Embassy would “take care of Boo Boo Cabana in due time”. That due time is apparently June 27th in Chicago. Over the weekend, Nana contacted ROH officials and he has challenged Cabana to face the Embassy in a Street Fight! Representing the Embassy will be Joey Ryan and Bison Smith, with their associate, Claudio Castagnoli. “You tell that Cabana that his time of shenanigans is over. He put the Crown Jewel in harm’s way of that filthy Necro Butcher in New York, now he will pay for his mistake.” As of press time, Cabana hadn’t selected his partners, but once he does we’ll announce them right here in the Newswire.
May 26th: A huge thank you from everyone at ROH for getting the amount of Twitter followers over 2,000! Not a follower yet, go on over to www.twitter.com/rohonhdnet , and get up to speed!
May 26th: The Buy 3, Get 2 Free Ring of Honor DVD Sale has been extended until Thursday at noon at ROHWrestling.com. This sale will also be in effect at both live events this weekend in Philadelphia. For complete details click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2811.
May 26th: Ring of Honor is happy to announce that the ROH World Title match on June 13th between Jerry Lynn and Austin Aries will have two special guests in the ringside area. Former ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness has requested that President Cary Silkin allow him to sit ringside and watch the match. This will be the first defense by Jerry Lynn since Houston that Nigel will see, and he reportedly “wants the best seat in the house to watch the man that dethroned him”. Silkin hesitated in granting the request, not knowing what intentions McGuinness may have, and consuted Ambassador Ric Flair on the matter. As a result of those conversations, ROH President Cary Silkin has appointed Ambassador “Nature Boy” Ric Flair as the special guest referee for the contest. Flair and McGuinness had some choice words for each other back at “Stylin’ and Profilin’”, and Silkin feels confident that Flair can neutralize anything that Nigel may have up his sleeve.
