Bryan Danielson and Austin Aries have a storied history. From “Survival of the Fittest 2004” to “Testing The Limits”, from Aries’ title reign to Danielson’s, and from their 2007 Best of 3 Series to “ROH on HDNet”, these competitors have taken one another to the limit, but it has always been done with a certain level of honor and dignity. That is until the most recent set of “ROH on HDNet” TV tapings where “A Double” took advantage of an exposed turnbuckle in order to secure a victory over Danielson. Even that match came about as a result of Bryan standing up for the integrity of the ROH World Title after Aries’ did his level best to tarnish the titles’ heritage with his “Lucky Lottery”. As stated before, the Austin Aries that climbs into the ring now does not appear to hold the title with the same esteem as he did in 2005, and is certainly disingenuous in his claims to be a fighting champion.
With this in mind, and after A Double’s action in Philadelphia, ROH officials have declared that Bryan Danielson WILL receive another shot at the ROH World Title. There was some debate as to the location of this match, when it would take place, if there would be any special stipulations, but eventually a consensus was reached. It will be Bryan Danielson vs. Austin Aries for the ROH World Title on September 26th at The Grand Ballroom in the heart of New York City!
And by the request of Danielson, this match will not have any special stipulations. “I don’t want Aries to have a single excuse for why he lost!” said the former ROH World Champ. “This will be a traditional straight up wrestling match because I want to kick him, stretch him, hurt him, and finally break him before I take the ROH World Title again and restore its integrity. There will be no stipulations because I don’t want to hear any excuses! All he will have to worry about is me, one-on-one, and Aries knows better than anyone how dangerous I can be!”
Austin Aries declined to comment at this time, but promised he would have words for Danielson in a future edition of the ROH Videowire. The ROH World Champion cannot possibly be sitting easy with Danielson added to the list of upcoming challengers for his title.
