On October 10th as part of the Qualifying Round of “Survival of the Fittest 2009”, Chris Hero and Kenny Omega fought it out to determine who would advance to the 6-Man Elimination Finals later in the night. Despite his best efforts, and despite surviving several blows that would knock out most men, Kenny Omega ultimately succumbed to Hero’s vicious elbows, leaving “That Young Knockout Kid” to move on to the finals.
When Omega got to the back he was shook up, angry, but most of all disappointed with the loss in the match, and the lost opportunity to garner a shot at the ROH World Title with a victory in the finals. After all, Omega was fresh off the biggest singles victory of his ROH career when he defeated Davey Richards in Collinsville, IL the night before. Maybe Kenny was riding high from that win, or maybe he was more battered than he let on (after all Omega did take a brutal beating en route to his victory), maybe…maybe…maybe. A man can sit around and look at the ‘maybes’ all day long, but doing that won’t change a thing about what happened.
Kenny Omega is not one to look at the ‘maybes’. In fact, before he left the arena in Indianapolis, Omega went to ROH officials requesting a rematch with Chris Hero as soon as it was humanly possible. ROH officials were more than willing to grant Omega’s request, and the match will happen when ROH returns to Philadelphia, PA on November 6th as part of another round of “ROH on HDNet” TV Tapings!
When Hero was asked for a comment it was Shane Hagadorn who spoke on his behalf, “That Young Knockout Kid is busy training; all day long he’s training. As soon as he got home from Indiana he was back in the gym, not crying over spilled milk like Kenny Omega. Chris has no problem accepting this match because there is no fear in this camp, no retreat or chance of defeat, no reason to think the result would be anything different. As Hero would say, Omega, come get your bell rung one more time!”
So the match is set, November 6th in Philadelphia, PA it will be Chris Hero vs. Kenny Omega, Round III! Who knows what the long term ramifications of this bout could be? Both men are high on the pecking order and a win for either can only propel them to greater heights. Get your tickets right here at www.rohwrestling.com!
