"THE GOLDEN DREAM" - NOVEMBER 2, 2013
THE MASONIC CENTER - 315 EAST 5TH STREET
CINCINNATI, OH 45202
7:30pm Bell Time
We are just one day away from ROH's return to Cincinnati, Ohio! This event has serious Final Battle implications that are sure to shape the landscape of ROH.
**MAIN EVENT - SUPERCARD OF HONOR VII REMATCH**
JAY BRISCOE VS KEVIN STEEN
This sure to be hostile rematch was announced yesterday. Kevin Steen and Jay Briscoe are still seeking the ROH World Championship rematch that neither of them have gotten since losing the title. Frustrations are sure to collide in this major main event.
After a recent MRI, ROH World Champion Adam Cole was not cleared by medical professionals to defend his championship this Saturday. After much thought, Nigel McGuinness decided upon Steen vs. Briscoe for many obvious reasons. Both guys have been obsessed with getting an ROH World Championship rematch that they have not received since losing their titles. This weekend was supposed to be Steen's opportunity. He'll get the chance to take out all of his recent frustration on the man that ended his reign.
Jay Briscoe has finally been cleared by doctors to return to action. As a direct result from taking the ROH World Championship from Steen, and subsequently taking the title from SCUM, Briscoe was the victim of a serious attack that put him on the shelf for the last few months. Since then we've seen Jay hit "rock bottom", have to hand over his championship, and then be the victim of another cowardly attack, this time by current champion Adam Cole. At Glory by Honor Jay Briscoe debuted his own personalized World Championship title belt and proclaimed himself the "real champion." Jay previously stated that he would defend that championship this weekend in Cincinnati, but ROH officials do not endorse the defense of an unsanctioned title.
**WORLD CHAMPION ADAM COLE will still appear Saturday night in Cincinnati, OH**
Will Adam Cole try to add fuel to the fire of Kevin Steen and Jay Briscoe? With his Final Battle opponent Michael Elgin in the building, will there be an altercation? Or will Cole try to duck the #1 contender as he has at other recent events?
WORLD TV CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Matt Taven vs. Adam Page
Every match that Matt Taven has is for the ROH World TV Championship. As good as Taven is, it must be hard to stay undefeated. Will young Adam Page pull off the upset and walk out with his first championship? Page is hungry to make a name for himself and to be the next breakout star in ROH. Page did taste success recently in Philadelphia when he defeated ACH in singles competition. Matt Taven is approaching a historic number of days as TV Champion. Will his dominance continue, or will there be a psychological effect from his loss in Champions vs. All-Stars?
FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Jay Lethal vs. Mark Briscoe vs. Michael Bennett with Maria Kanellis
*Winner receives a shot at the World TV Title at Final Battle
The ROH TV Championship scene has never been so hot. Four of the top talents in the company will be competing for a career changing opportunity at ROH's biggest show, Final Battle, In New York City! All four of these competitors were recently involved in the ROH World Title Tournament with three of them advancing in the tournament. There is plenty of history in this one including the recent rivalry between Ciampa and Lethal, that left Ciampa injured and sidelined. Since his return, Ciampa has been on a warpath to capture ROH gold. Lethal wants an opportunity to become a two time TV Champion after Taven's Hoopla was too much of a distraction last time. Since his return from injury at the hands of his own brother, Mark Briscoe has set his sights on singles gold. He wants nothing more than to get that shot at ROH's biggest event of the year. Michael Bennett has been on fire lately with victories over Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, and Kevin Steen. With a dangerous piledriver, and the lovely Maria at ringside, he could be the biggest threat to Taven's championship.
FOR AN IMMEDIATE SHOT AT THE ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Bobby Fish vs. Mike Posey
Kyle O'Reilly vs. Cory Hollis
It was recently announced that Alabama Attitude would get singles matches against the ROH World Tag Team Champions reDRagon. If either Posey or Hollis can pin a member of reDRagon, they will get an immediate Tag Team Championship match. Both reDRagon and Alabama Attitude will need to score two pinfalls over the opposition to walk out of Cincinnati with the ROH World Tag Team Championship titles.
JIMMY JACOBS TRIAL SERIES MATCH #5
Jimmy Jacobs vs. Roderick Strong
The series is tied up at 2-2. All Jimmy Jacobs needs to do to earn an ROH World Championship match in his hometown of Dearborn, Michigan is beat Roderick Strong. That's obviously not an easy task. "Mr. ROH" might be the toughest possible draw for Jacobs in his attempt at gold. Strong is fresh off his near title win against Adam Cole at Charm City Challenge. Will Jacobs' heart overcome this huge task and earn him the opportunity of a lifetime? Or will Roderick Strong be too much?
FIRST TIME IN ROH
Davey Richards vs. ACH
Davey Richards returns after a month long hiatus while on tour in Europe. During that time, Richards has faced off against some of the toughest competition that England has to offer. This match is sure to be a fun clash of styles as the teacher looks to school the student. An ACH win could propel him to heights he's not yet seen in professional wrestling.
ONE on ONE
"Unbreakable" Michael Elgin vs Silas Young
This one is going to be physical. Michael Elgin is the #1 contender to the ROH World Championship and is coming in off a victory against the champion. Silas Young is coming in off of a grueling grudge match victory against Mark Briscoe at the same show. Can Elgin keep his focus in a match that doesn't have ROH World Championship implications? Or are all his thoughts on Adam Cole? Silas Young isn't the kind of guy to take lightly.
