TETSUYA NAITO

Coming off the best year of his career in 2016, many wondered how “El Ingobernable” would top his accomplishments in 2017. 2016 saw Naito won the New Japan Cup and go on to add his name to the storied lineage of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, a history that includes legends like Inoki, Tanahashi, and Choshu, defeating Kazuchika Okada for the championship. Though Naito would lose the championship back to Okada, Naito rebounded just three months later, capturing the IWGP Intercontinental Championship from Michael Elgin in Kobe, Japan.

For nearly seven months, Naito has held the coveted championship, already the third-longest reign in the championship’s history. And some may argue that the leader of Los Ingobernables de Japon is having an even better 2017. Naito successfully defended his championship against Tanahashi at WrestleKingdom 11 and did so again against Michael Elgin at the New Beginning in Osaka. And with a stellar record in eight and ten-man matches, Los Ingobernables de Japon is proving to be one of the premiere forces in all of New Japan!

One of the most decorated stars in NJPW returns to the United States for the War of the Worlds Tour and he is looking to continue his tremendous 2017! Naito has thrived in War of the Worlds competition, compiling a 5-1 singles record. Can he keep the momentum going? Join us for The War of the Worlds Tour to find out!
