At WAR OF THE WORLDS, Kevin Steen addressed the ROH fans after his grueling war with Shinsuke Nakamura. He insinuated that his tenure in Ring of Honor might be coming to an end, and that it was time for Mr. Wrestling to step away. Of course, Silas Young ruined the moment and the two would fight at BEST IN THE WORLD.
However, we can now confirm what Kevin Steen was trying to say in New York City. Steen's Ring of Honor contract expires at the end of the month. He will be taking a break from ROH for the foreseeable future.
Both a former ROH World Tag Team Champion and World Champion, Kevin Steen has not always been the popular man in Ring of Honor - at least not with the people in charge. But it is Steen's insistence on forging his own path and doing things "his way" that turned him into one of the most unforgettable athletes in the history of the promotion. There has never been - and there never will be - another Kevin Steen.
As a reflection of all that Steen has meant to Ring of Honor - to the locker room and the fans - Nigel McGuinness has decided to allow him to hand select his opponents for his remaining ROH matches.
Kevin Steen sent us this interview earlier regarding Nigel's offer...
