ROH Debut: February 23, 2002
ROH Title(s) Held: ROH World Tag Team Championships x3
w/ Frankie Kazarian, Donovan Morgan and Matt Sydal
It's not easy for anyone to achieve iconic status in their realm of expertise, but as it pertains to Ring of Honor, Christopher Daniels embodies the term, "icon". Making his debut on the very first ROH show on February 23, 2002, The Era of Honor Begins, in a triple threat match in the main event also featuring Bryan Danielson and Low-Ki, Daniels is also known as a "Founding Father". Also known as "The Fallen Angel", Daniels would be a major player in ROH from the outset, leading The Prophecy and bringing Samoa Joe into the company at the inaugural Glory by Honor.
Alongside fellow Prophecy member Donovan Morgan, Daniels would become the first ROH World Tag Team Champion at Unscripted. Many of Daniels' first rivalries were due to his unwillingness to comply with the Code of Honor, often refusing to shake the hands of people before and after matches, even facing people such as Doug Williams so that when he won, Williams would be unable to shake the hands of his opponents pre and post match.
Daniels' Prophecy stable was a regular fixture in ROH until 2004, feuding with the likes of Samoa Joe once he left the group and The Second City Saints, CM Punk, Colt Cabana and Ace Steel. Daniels would depart in 2004 but return just over a year later at the now historic Death Before Dishonor III event where he stood up to CM Punk, just after cutting his defining promo where he threatened to leave ROH with the World Championship.
Daniels would again leave ROH in 2007, but returned in 2010 and immediately began chasing more championship gold. During this time he focused on The American Wolves, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards, facing both in critically acclaimed matches, Edwards at Supercard of Honor V which he won and against Davey Richards at an event titled Daniels vs. Richards, where he was defeated. Daniels would reclaim ROH gold, this time the ROH World TV Championship when he defeated Edwards again on an episode of ROH on HDNet.
Daniels and Edwards' issues continued once Eddie had captured the ROH World Championship, the two meeting at Honor Takes Center Stage Night 1 with the World Championship on the line, Edwards finally coming out the winner, with Daniels refusing to shake his hand post-match. Daniels would join The House of Truth and lose the ROH World TV Championship to El Generico at Best in the World 2011 before departing the company once again, but everybody knows where home truly is and once again Christopher Daniels has found his way.
At ROH's first live pay-per-view Best in the World 2014, Daniels returned alongside tag team partner Frankie Kazarian to challenge ROH World Tag Team Champions, reDRagon. Despite coming out defeated, Daniels and Kazarian received a tremendous response from the ROH crowd, with fans welcoming both back to the promotion. Daniels and Kaz have made it publicly known what their focus is, and that is the ROH World Tag Team Championships.
